Frequently asked questions

How do I convert my French size to a US size?

For women's clothing, subtract about 32 from your French size: a FR 38 is a US 6, a FR 40 is a US 8. For men, the US size of tops often matches the chest in inches. Use the converter above for an exact match per garment.

How do I find my shirt (collar) size?

A men's shirt size is based on the neck measurement: measure the base of the neck and read the value in the « Shirt » tab. A neck of 39-40 cm corresponds to size M (collar 39/40), for example.

Which trouser or jeans size should I pick?

For bottoms, the main reference is the waist. The US « W » on jeans is that waist in inches (W32 ≈ 81-82 cm). Also measure your inseam for the length.

How do I choose clothing size for a child?

For children, sizing is based mainly on height (standing height in cm), far more reliable than age. Measure the child barefoot, back against the wall, and read the height in the converter.

What if I'm between two sizes?

Size up for comfort, especially for fitted garments or low-stretch fabrics. The most reliable approach is to preview the fit on your body with a virtual try-on before buying.

Are sizes the same across all brands?

No. Every brand uses its own patterns, and the same size can run large or small depending on the label. Our charts give a reliable international baseline, but always check the brand's specific guide when available.

Is this tool free?

Yes, the size guide is 100% free and available without sign-up. If you want to go further and see a garment worn on your photo, TryClothesMagic's virtual try-on offers free trials to get started.
